Sensory Integration Therapy Sensory Integration (SI) Therapy helps treat children that have sensory processing disorders. Children with SI Dysfunction may have an over or under reaction to different sensations. A child that seeks sensory stimulation may love swinging, spinning, bear hugs, and walking barefoot. These children often have difficulty sitting still or attending to tasks. Children on the other end of the spectrum that are Sensory Defensive do not like being touched, have difficulty eating different textures of food, do not like wearing clothes, and may over-react when people are in "their" space. Therapists can help teach these children how to become comfortable in their environments by exposing them to a variety of sensory experiences in a controlled environment. Our staff is trained to help children with SI Dysfunctions regulate their behaviors so that they are able to live "normal" lives.
